The intestine is responsible not only for digestion and nutrient absorption but also for the elimination of indigestible feed components and metabolic waste products. In addition, the gut is a central immunological organ in direct contact with the external environment. Disturbances of the intestinal mucosa or gut flora may therefore have far reaching consequences for the horse’s overall wellbeing and performance.

During periods of increased strain such as foaling, intensive training, changes of environment or other stress factors, the balance within the gastrointestinal tract may be disrupted. This may present as yawning, teeth grinding, reduced appetite, weight loss, recurring gastric discomfort, decreased performance or increased restlessness.

GastroIntestinal supports the horse’s ability to maintain balance within the intestinal mucosa and promotes regeneration of the intestinal villi, which is essential for efficient nutrient absorption. At the same time, the product contributes to the development of a stable and balanced gut flora.

The formula contains brewer’s yeast, the PSB complex with functional cellular building blocks, linseed and beta glucans. The natural mucilage from gently crushed linseed protects the stomach and intestinal lining. Prebiotic components such as beta glucans and live yeast stimulate the natural function of the digestive system. Through an innovative micellisation process, the active substances are encapsulated in pure lecithin, enabling faster and more efficient absorption in the intestine.

GastroIntestinal is part of St. Hippolyt’s Gastro range, which also includes Gastro Relief Beet and Gastro Relief Oil. The range has been developed for horses with sensitive gastric mucosa and can be used individually or in combination, including alongside other St. Hippolyt products. The product is particularly suitable in combination with EquiGard and GlyxWiese Muesli.

Feeding recommendation
Approximately 20 g per 100 kg bodyweight daily (or as recommended by a veterinarian) together with the regular feed. Introduce gradually in small amounts to ensure acceptance.

Please note that this complementary feed contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals than standard complementary feeds and should therefore constitute no more than 1.3 percent of the horse’s total ration including forage. Always follow the recommended feeding rate.
