Early indications may include changes in coat and skin condition, reduced hoof quality, muscle tension, decreased willingness to move, behavioural changes or digestive disturbances. Long term deficiency can seriously affect the horse’s recovery and overall performance.

Copper is an essential trace element important for bone formation, pigmentation, fertility and nerve function. Deficiency may present as impaired skeletal development, altered coat colour, fertility problems or increased nervousness. As minerals and trace elements are also necessary for proper enzyme function, imbalances may affect metabolism and result in varying symptoms from one individual to another.

Hesta Plus Copper contains organically bound copper with very high bioavailability, allowing rapid and efficient absorption from the intestine into the bloodstream and onward to body tissues. The product is high dosed to enable targeted supplementation following confirmed deficiency. It also contains nucleotides, functional building blocks of DNA, which support regeneration of the intestinal villi and thereby improve trace element absorption.

Feeding recommendation:
Approximately 5 g per 100 kg bodyweight daily.

The duration of supplementation depends on the degree of the confirmed deficiency. Some nutrient deficiencies may take a long time to correct, while others can be balanced within a few weeks. Adjust use in consultation with a veterinarian or nutritionist where appropriate.

In cases of confirmed trace element deficiency, it may also be beneficial to complement with a trace element rich feed such as Hesta Mix®, Struktur E® or NaturMüsli Senior.

Please note that this complementary feed contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals than standard complementary feeds and should therefore constitute no more than 0.4 percent of the horse’s total ration including forage. Always follow the recommended feeding rate.
