Relief Mash contains fibre sources such as bran, pectins and psyllium husks with a high water binding capacity. When mixed with water, the formation of mucilage from psyllium husks and linseed is activated. This increases the volume of the intestinal contents and stimulates gut motility, thereby facilitating the elimination of waste products, sand and unwanted substances. The mucilage also has a protective effect on the intestinal mucosa.
When horses lick the ground or ingest roots, small amounts of soil and sand can accumulate in the intestines. This may inhibit normal gut activity and contribute to digestive imbalance. Psyllium husks provide mechanical cleansing of the intestines, help loosen sand accumulations and promote effective elimination.
The golden linseed is gently pre treated through light rolling of the husk, making the nutrients more available to digestive enzymes while the outer shell still protects against oxidation. Linseed is naturally rich in omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin E and mucilage and can be used without boiling.
Prebiotic components such as brewer’s yeast have a stimulating and supportive effect on the intestinal flora. A well functioning gut flora is essential for stable digestion and efficient nutrient absorption. The recommended amount of water should be observed to ensure optimal function in the intestines. Relief Mash can be used as a course or as a daily supplement during periods of increased need.
