Village Wool Pastern Pads are a practical and gentle pastern wrap designed to support horses suffering from mud fever and other skin issues in the pastern area. When the skin is irritated, cracked or sensitive to moisture and dirt, these wool pads help create a protective and supportive environment for recovery.
Inside each wrap there is a smart mesh pocket filled with natural sheep’s wool. The wool contains lanolin, a natural fat with softening and protective properties, well known for nourishing and supporting the skin. The wool stays securely in place within the pocket while still allowing the skin to breathe, which is particularly important when treating mud fever, minor wounds, cracks and moisture-related skin problems in the pastern. The breathable construction helps reduce the risk of further irritation while keeping the area protected from dirt.
The outer layer is made from soft and comfortable neoprene that shapes around the horse’s pastern without applying unnecessary pressure. With a simple and adjustable Velcro fastening, the Wool Pastern Pads are easy to put on and remove while staying securely in place during use. Each pair is supplied with a starter amount of sheep’s wool, ready to use.
